Cardiff University is recognised in independent government assessments as one of Britain’s leading teaching and research institutions and is a member of the Russell Group of the UK’s most research intensive universities. 
 
Among its academic staff are two Nobel Laureates, including the winner of the 2007 Nobel Prize for Medicine, Professor Sir Martin Evans.

Cardiff Business School is ranked 4th in the UK for the quality of its research, placing it amongst the elite of business and management schools and it has a global reputation for research, teaching and learning.  A faculty of international repute, it delivers high quality educational programmes to 2,500 students a year, 700 of which are postgraduate students.
 


University of Glamorgan

The University of Glamorgan was placed in the top 10 of the new Universities in the UK in the Guardian league table 2008 and was a finalist in the prestigious Times Higher Education ‘University of the Year Awards 2007’ recognising its excellence in teaching, research and innovation.
 
It has a comprehensive range of studies from the Creative Industries based in its new Cardiff campus – the ATRiuM  through to Aeronautical Engineering. It has world leading research in areas such as hydrogen fuel and an academic pedigree spanning almost 100 years. It is now part of the Glamorgan Group which includes the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama – the National Conservatoire of Wales – and Merthyr Tydfil College.
 


UWIC

UWIC is made up of five academic schools, the renowned Cardiff School of Art & Design; the Cardiff School of Health Sciences - with the soon to be opened £4.3million research centre; the Cardiff School of Education - one of the leading providers of teacher training in the UK; the Cardiff School of Management - which offers the largest on campus MBA in the UK; and its famous Cardiff School of Sport. UWIC specialises in courses that are career orientated and which have been designed in conjunction with business and industry.
 
One tenth of UWIC students are from overseas, including China, Korea, Pakistan and Africa. UWIC is primarily a teaching University, but has a number of centres of research expertise, including the award winning National Centre for Product Design & Development Research (PDR).
