Support and Funding
Cardiff’s businesses have access to a range of generic and tailored business support to encourage investment, recruitment, skills development and access to new overseas markets. A range of subsidised specialist advice and financial support programmes can be accessed via the Welsh Assembly Government’s ‘Flexible Solutions for Business’ service and Cardiff Council’s range of services.
Funding is available through a number of sources including a number of private equity companies as well as Finance Wales – an Assembly Government backed public limited company that provides commercial funding solutions to SME’s in Wales. Fusion IP owns the rights to Cardiff University research and assists in the commercialisation of world-class research emanating from the institution.
Knowledge transfer is supported by the Welsh Assembly Government’s new programme - A4B (Academic Expertise for Business) - a six year project funded by the Welsh Assembly Government and European Structural Funds, aimed at providing a simplified, integrated package of support for knowledge transfer from academia to business.
