What the Papers say

Positive developments in Cardiff certainly caught the attention of the UK’s broadsheets in 2009, with the Guardian bringing the year to a close with a feature on the city’s rising status as a filming location.

Writing for the Guardian, John Plunkett said, ‘Cardiff is considered to be more film-friendly than London and will fill in for the streets of the British capital on Sherlock Homes, a modern take on the Arthur Conan Doyle classic.  Cardiff and some of the most familiar landmarks in south Wales are to appear more frequently on the small screen as a slew of television dramas follow Doctor Who’s lead including a remake of Upstairs Downstairs, and the BBC’s long-running hospital drama, Casualty’.

The media coverage (Advertising Value Equivalent) generated by Cardiff & Co since April 2009 now stands at £1.5 million. See the full Guardian article here.
